Nowadays, environmental conservation is key to sustainable development. It plays a crucial role in ecosystem restoration. In this context, the Alerce Urban Development Project, in compliance with Resolution 0604 of 2021 issued by CARDER, has made significant progress in its Forest Compensation Plan, ensuring the reforestation of natural areas.
Why is forest offsetting essential for sustainable development?
Urban development projects have an impact on the environment, especially when the use of natural and forest resources is required. To mitigate this impact, environmental authorities require companies to implement forest compensation plans, thus ensuring the preservation and maintenance of newly planted species in strategic areas.
In the case of the Alerce project, the company Basa Construcciones SAS has carried out forest compensation on the property “El Recuerdo,” located in the village of El Aguacate, Municipality of La Virginia, Risaralda. There, 1,480 native tree species have been planted over an area of 1.28 hectares, contributing to the recovery of the ecosystem.
